Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. There is no signup, no login, and no paywall. Open it and ask.
Why does it want my location?
Only to sort restaurants, trails and bars by how far they are from you, to set an accurate rideshare pickup, and to place you on the map if you join a group. Your location is never stored on our servers or sold. You can decline and everything still works, just without distance sorting.
A restaurant or trail listing is wrong.
Please tell us. Hours, prices and even whether a place is still open change constantly up here, especially between ski season and mud season. We would rather hear about it than have someone drive to a closed restaurant.
Are the trail distances accurate?
Distances and elevation gain are cross-checked against AllTrails where a matching route exists. Trailhead signs and current conditions always win. Many Summit County trails have more than one trailhead, so your mileage can differ depending on where you park.
How does group location sharing work?
It is opt-in only. You create a session, share the code with people you trust, and everyone who joins can see each other on a live map. Sessions expire automatically after 8, 12 or 24 hours, whichever you pick, and all location data is deleted at that point. You can leave at any time and your pin disappears immediately.
Is the AI ever wrong?
Yes, occasionally. It is built to only recommend places from our verified list, but AI can still make mistakes. Confirm hours and addresses with the venue before driving anywhere, particularly in the shoulder seasons.
Is it really free?
Yes. Some links to hotels, tours and gear are affiliate links, which is how the app pays for itself. That never changes what we recommend and costs you nothing extra.
Safety in the mountains
Summit County sits between 9,000 and 10,000 feet, and the summits go past 13,000. A few things that catch visitors out:
- Take your first day easy and drink far more water than feels necessary.
- Afternoon thunderstorms build almost daily in July and August. Be off exposed high ground by noon.
- High trails hold snow into July.
- Mountain weather changes fast. Carry a warm layer even on a hot day.
